A Gentler Way to Heal
Whether you’re living with pain that won’t quit, struggling with fertility, having trouble sleeping, or dealing with a condition you’ve been told to simply live with, acupuncture can help. The sooner we start your acupuncture treatment, the sooner you’ll begin feeling like yourself again.
You know that morning back pain that greets you like an unwanted alarm. That stiff neck you’ve been working around for weeks. Those headaches that keep stealing your focus. These are exactly the conditions where acupuncture starts to make a real difference, not just to mask how you feel, but to help your body truly heal. Acupuncture is an ancient chinese medicine-based approach that has supported people for thousands of years, and acupuncture remains one of the most effective forms of integrative medicine today. Right here in North Vancouver, I’ve seen acupuncture help people with every kind of issue you can imagine. If you’ve been curious about trying acupuncture yourself, I’m glad you landed here.

How It Works in Your Body
Acupuncture points are believed to link up with special pathways inside your body that control pain, swelling, and repair. When your acupuncturist gently places acupuncture needles into these points, they send a signal to the central nervous system, telling your brain to release endorphins and other calming chemicals that ease pain and soften your stress response. Put simply, acupuncture may stimulate your body’s own built-in healing system.
There’s another layer to this. Acupuncture also shifts how your brain handles stress and sleep. Ever been stuck awake at 2am with a mind that won’t slow down? Acupuncture helps balance your stress hormones and activates the part of your nervous system in charge of deep rest. Tight jaws, sluggish digestion, that wound-up feeling, they all share one root. A stressed-out body. Acupuncture helps bring it back into balance.
The research backs this up. Randomized clinical trials show again and again that real acupuncture outperforms sham acupuncture, where needles go into random spots as a placebo, for conditions like chronic pain, migraines, and insomnia. Acupuncture is not a hopeful guess. It’s tested, evidence-based care.
On top of that, acupuncture is among the safest treatments out there. The acupuncture needles your acupuncturist uses are sterile, used only once, and thinner than a single strand of hair. No medications. No recovery time. No harsh side effects. Most people drift into deep calm during their session and leave feeling lighter than when they walked in. I always suggest letting your doctor or healthcare provider know you’re receiving acupuncture, so every part of your care team works together.
Our Approach
Every acupuncture session begins with a thorough check, we build an acupuncture plan shaped around your own needs. That’s what sets our clinic acupuncture experience apart. We never believed in a one-size-fits-all template. Before a single needle goes in, We review your health history, your current conditions, how you live day to day, and any test results you’ve brought along.
For tight muscles and long-held tension, We may suggest Electroacupuncture, a gentle electrical pulse sent through the needles to stimulate muscles that have gone quiet due to pain or injury. It restores the connection between your body and the sore area for deeper relief and smoother movement.
For stubborn knots or stiff spots, Intramuscular Stimulation goes straight into the muscle to release trigger points. We also offer Cupping to boost blood flow and loosen the tissue under your skin, Gua Sha to calm inflammation and ease neck and shoulder tightness, a method proven to lower inflammation deep in your cells and speed up healing. Each of these therapies works best when paired with acupuncture as part of a bigger plan.
Chinese acupuncture is the foundation of everything we do in our practice. Our approach draws from various styles of traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture techniques, and we bring in modern methods whenever they serve your health goals better.
What Your First Visit Looks Like
You’ll receive acupuncture on your very first visit. Just wear something loose and comfortable.
1. Initial Check-In We look past your symptoms to understand why your health hasn’t improved on its own. This may include hands-on muscle testing, Chinese medicine pulse reading, and tongue diagnosis to spot patterns of imbalance, and to see how much function acupuncture can help restore.
2. How Your Body Responds Your first acupuncture visit works as a useful check-in, too. We watch how your body reacts to the needles, and that tells us what pace of recovery to expect. This step takes the guesswork out of your care and helps us design a plan that actually fits you.
3. Your Plan From there, we map out a clear acupuncture plan, including how many sessions, how often, and which techniques we’ll bring in. Every plan is built around your health goals and adjusted as you improve.
Your first acupuncture session runs about 60 minutes. Follow-up visits are usually 45 to 60 minutes. Many of our acupuncture patients notice real relief right after that very first visit.
Why Choose Us?
No two people heal the same way, so no two acupuncture plans should look alike. I go further than most by reviewing your lab work, scans, and imaging. That way, your acupuncture care is shaped by the full picture from day one. With more than 13 years of clinical experience, we know how to get real results without wasting your time.
We’re not here to keep you coming back forever. We set clear goals, track your progress, and aim to get you back to the life you love. We’re open seven days a week with same-day acupuncture appointments, and we bill your insurance directly, including ICBC and extended health through Pacific Blue Cross, Manulife, Sun Life, and Great-West Life.

Is acupuncture painful?
Acupuncture is not painful in the way most people expect. The needles used are extremely fine, much thinner than a typical medical needle, and most patients feel little to no discomfort upon insertion. You may experience a mild sensation of tingling, warmth, or a gentle ache around the needle site, which is completely normal and is actually a sign that the treatment is working effectively.
How quickly does acupuncture produce noticeable results?
How quickly acupuncture produces noticeable results depends on the condition being treated and the individual. Some patients feel immediate relief or a deep sense of relaxation after their very first session. For chronic or complex conditions, meaningful improvement is typically felt after four to six consistent sessions. Your practitioner will monitor your progress and adjust the treatment plan to ensure you are moving in the right direction.
Is falling asleep during an acupuncture session a good sign?
Falling asleep during an acupuncture session is a very good sign. It means your nervous system has shifted into a deep state of rest and relaxation, which is exactly the environment your body needs to heal. Many patients drift off during treatment and wake up feeling refreshed, calm, and recharged. It is one of the most common and welcomed responses to acupuncture and nothing to be concerned about at all.
Are new sterile needles used for every acupuncture session?
New sterile needles are used for every single acupuncture session without exception. All needles are single use, meaning they are opened from a sealed sterile package at the start of your treatment and safely disposed of immediately afterward. They are never reused or shared between patients. This practice meets the highest standards of hygiene and safety and is strictly enforced by regulatory bodies governing registered acupuncture practitioners in Canada.
What are the most common signs that acupuncture is working?
The most common signs that acupuncture is working include reduced pain levels, better sleep quality, improved energy, a calmer mood, and more regular bodily functions such as digestion and menstrual cycles. You may also notice a deep sense of relaxation that lasts for several days after each session. These changes reflect your body responding positively to treatment and gradually moving toward a healthier and more balanced state.
